Seasons and waves

A season is a city with a start date and an end date, its own map, its own quests, its own leaderboard and its own prize pool. Waves are how its content is grouped.

A season is a self-contained run

Everything that decides standing is scoped to one season:

  • the map — layout, palette and quarter codes, frozen at publication;
  • the quest catalogue — the season's content and its total point bank;
  • the leaderboard — points earned inside the season window only;
  • the prize pool — one pool, split when the season closes.

Season points mostly do not carry over — 10% of your season total is carried into the next season as a starting credit, and the rest is left behind.

Four things survive a season change untouched, because they describe your history rather than one season's effort:

  • your rank — it is measured on lifetime points and cannot fall;
  • your lifetime point total;
  • your reputation score and the accounts it is computed from — the multiplier is not a season perk, it simply always applies;
  • your Daily Check streak — day 31 is day 31 whether or not a season changed underneath it.

Genesis runs about seven weeks rather than a calendar month. A season is not required to be one month long; it is whatever its published window says, and the leaderboard, the quest deadlines and the prize pool all follow that same window.

Waves

A wave is a group of quests that belong together — a chapter, not a release date. Every wave of Genesis is open from day one, and every quest in the season can be taken in any order, from any corner of the map.

WaveQuestsTask pointsWhat it is about
Arrival6260A signature, a little gas and dollars on Base, X, the first swap, the seven-seat team
Everyday10410Coming back — a second swap, the lending deposit, three Daily Checks, the crossing to Soneium and Sonic
Ties10450Other people — Discord, Telegram, an invite, the five-seat team; a second venue; deposits and stakes on the far shores
Close7680The larger trades, liquidity on Soneium and Sonic, the three-seat team and the season's own charter

The order suggests a route. It does not lock a door: nothing in Genesis requires you to finish one quest before starting another, and a player arriving in the last week can take the most valuable quests on their first evening.

Quest windows

Every Genesis quest carries the season's own window — open from the first second, closing with the season. Quests can in principle carry a narrower window of their own, and a quest that has closed disappears from the board and can no longer be accepted or completed. A quest completed after its window has passed pays nothing; the check that enforces this runs at accept time and at completion time, so a quest cannot be finished late for full points.

Two different refusals, because you fix them differently:

  • Not open yet — wait.
  • Window closed — that one is over.

When a season closes

The close runs by itself, within minutes of the window ending, and always in this order:

  1. The leaderboard is frozen — a point earned after the last second of the window does not reach it.
  2. A snapshot is written: every ranked player's final rank and their prize amount.
  3. The next season opens, with its own map, catalogue and a leaderboard that starts at 10% of everyone's previous total rather than at zero.

A team quest whose team never filled burns its pool when its own window closes — for every Genesis quest that is the season's close — and everyone who held a place in it is told.

Payouts are made from that snapshot. See Prize pool and payouts for the split, and Fair play for who qualifies to receive one.

WHILE A SEASON IS OPEN

Amounts shown next to leaderboard places during a live season are the projected split for the current standing. The binding numbers are the ones written at close.

  • The city map — what a season's map is made of
  • Leaderboard — how standing inside the season is computed
  • Ranks — the ladder a season change cannot move

Numbers on these pages describe the live production build. Season content and prize pools change between seasons.
