Getting started

Connect, sign, take a quest, finish it. Everything else in this handbook explains what happens after that.

1. Open the city

Go to app.denshin.io. The map loads before you sign in — you can pan, zoom and read quests as a guest. Nothing is hidden behind the login except the parts that are about you.

2. Connect a wallet

Press Connect Wallet. On desktop you can use an injected wallet (MetaMask, Rabby and the like); on mobile the wallet picker opens your installed apps over WalletConnect.

Your wallet then asks you to sign a message. This is worth being clear about:

A SIGNATURE IS NOT A TRANSACTION

Signing the login message costs no gas, moves no funds, and grants no spending permission. It only proves the wallet is yours. Denshin never asks for a token approval as part of signing in.

You can link up to ten wallets to the same profile later, and any of them will sign you in. One of them is the main wallet, and that is the one quests are checked against — not all of them together. Linking a second one early is also what lets you unlink a wallet you lose control of. See Wallets.

Your face on the board

Until you upload a picture, your avatar is a small pixel mark generated from your account — different for everyone, and the same everywhere you appear. You can upload your own from Settings: pick an image, frame it in the square, save. It is stored by Denshin, resized to 256×256 and re-encoded, so nothing of the original file travels any further. You can remove it at any time and go back to the generated mark.

3. Pick up the season's first wave

The season is grouped into waves — chapters, not release dates. All of them are open from day one, and the first is the on-ramp: its thresholds are deliberately tiny, because a ten-cent threshold tests exactly the same thing as a ten-dollar one and does not turn away someone who came to look around.

Nothing stops you starting elsewhere. Every quest in the season is open from your first evening, anywhere on the map — the waves suggest a route, they do not lock a door.

The first wave asks you to:

  • sign in and create a citizen profile,
  • hold a small amount of gas on Base — the other two networks, Soneium and Sonic, come later,
  • hold a small amount of a stablecoin,
  • link your X account,
  • make your first swap,
  • and, if you want company, take a seat on the seven-player team quest.

Read a quest before you start it: it lists its tasks, what each task checks, and how many points it pays.

4. Start, then act

Press Start mission on a quest before doing the on-chain action.

This matters. On-chain checks only count activity from the block at which you started the quest onward. It is what makes "did you swap" a question about doing something rather than about what your wallet happened to already contain. See Proof and verification.

5. Check the task

When you have done the action, press Verify. Denshin queries the chain (or the linked platform) and either ticks the task or tells you what is missing. A failed check costs you nothing and can be run again after a minute — indexers occasionally lag that far behind the chain.

When every required task in a quest is done, the quest completes: its points land on your season total, and the sealed quarters it holds open on your map.

6. Come back tomorrow

Each day a Daily Check point appears somewhere in the city. You take it with a Denshin Sync: pick Soneium, Base or Sonic and confirm one small transaction in your wallet. It costs only gas — a fraction of a cent — so keep a little ETH on Soneium or Base, or a little S on Sonic, in a linked wallet.

It pays points equal to your current streak, and the point moves the following day. It is a reason to return, not a way to win — see Daily Check.
