Six steps, measured against your whole history in the city. A rank is standing, not a perk.
The ladder

The ladder tells one story from bottom to top: someone arrives with no papers, gets on the register, takes charge of a shift, starts moving other people's money, buys blocks, and finally decides what the skyline looks like.
What the thresholds are measured against
Your lifetime points — everything you have ever earned in Denshin, from every season: quest points, the profile multiplier, Daily Check and referral income, added together.
A RANK NEVER RESETS
Season points reset the moment a season closes. Lifetime points do not, so your rank cannot fall when a season ends. Whatever you reached, you keep.
Why absolute numbers, and not a share of the season
The earlier design measured rank as a share of the current season's point bank — 15% for the second step, 35% for the third, and so on. It was proof against seasons of different sizes, but it answered the wrong question. A share says "how much of this season did you do", and its top is reachable inside a single month. A ladder you can finish in four weeks is not a ladder.
Absolute numbers say "how much have you done, ever". A flawless Genesis — every solo quest, the first seat in all three teams, a maxed score and a check-in every single day — comes to 4,708 points before referral income, so one perfect season moves you one step and no further. Architect is several seasons of real play, and that is the intended shape, not an accident of the numbers.
The ladder is always shown on your profile with your current position on it, so you never have to compute anything.
What a rank gives you
Standing, and nothing else.
Ranks do not multiply your points, do not increase your payout, do not unlock private quests, and do not improve your referral rewards. Denshin used to attach a percentage bonus to rank and removed it: a bonus that grows with rank makes the players who are already ahead pull further ahead, which is a worse game and a worse leaderboard.
The one multiplier in the game is the reputation score, and it is earned by proving things about your wallet and your accounts — not by being early.

The Discord badge that comes with it
Standing is worth seeing, so every rank carries a role in the Denshin Discord. You wear one at a time, and climbing replaces the one below it.

The top three ranks share Kingpin on purpose. Architect is 50,000 lifetime points — several seasons of real play — and a badge nobody in the server ever wears is not a badge, it is a rumour. Broker is a player who stayed, which is what the top role should mean.
Nobody hands these out and nobody can be asked for one. The role is computed from your own progress and applied by the game. It moves the moment your rank does — not on some later sweep — and there is also a nightly pass that repairs anything Discord was too slow or too offline to accept at the time.
Two conditions, both on your side:
- Link your Discord account (Profile → connect). Nothing can be granted to an account the game cannot see.
- Join the server first. Roles are applied to a member; someone who linked but never joined has nothing to apply them to, and server tenure only starts counting from the day you actually arrive.
Your badge follows your record, not your current standing, so it cannot be taken back by an operator correction that removes points.
The ladder roles are worth zero reputation points, deliberately — you bought that rank with points, and the reputation score multiplies the points every quest pays, so paying for the badge as well would pay you twice for the same work, and pay you more the further ahead you already were. The badge is the recognition; the rank is the reward. The Discord points come from the separate prestige badges — Verified, Relay, Neon Heart, Founder — which anyone can earn at any rank.
Your personal record
Denshin also remembers the highest step you have ever held. Since the ladder is now lifetime-based, the record and the current rank agree except after an operator correction that took points back — the record is what makes sure such a correction cannot erase something you genuinely reached.
